The difference between heavy refractory brick and light refractory brick

Release time:2024-01-24

Heavy refractory brick belongs to high temperature resistant and wear resistant refractory material, the use of high temperature, more used for industrial kiln working layer or permanent layer material, to prevent high temperature solution on the kiln body damage, protect the insulation layer material. Lightweight refractory brick is a thermal insulation brick, the use of low temperature, more for the kiln or thermal equipment insulation material, reduce heat loss, save energy consumption.

(1) The production process is different. Heavy high alumina bricks are made of high bauxite clinker as the main raw material, soft clay and waste pulp and paper liquid as binder, and are formed by high pressure molding, drying and high temperature firing. The lightweight high alumina brick is made of high bauxite clinker mixed with clay binder and foaming agent, poured and molded, and fired at high temperature. They all belong to sintered refractory bricks, one using high pressure forming and one using pouring forming.

(2) the volume density is different. The volume density of heavy high alumina brick is 2.3-2.65g/cm3, the volume density is dense, the porosity is low, less than 23%; the volume density of light high alumina brick is 0.6-1.5g/cm3, the volume density is small, and the porosity rate is more than 45%.

(3) different refractory temperature. The refractory temperature of heavy high alumina brick is about 1580-1790 degrees, and the high temperature resistance is good. The use temperature of lightweight high alumina brick is about 1350-1500 degrees.

(4) the use of different parts. The higher refractory temperature of heavy high alumina bricks can be used in the parts in contact with slag or solution, with low porosity and strong permeability resistance. Lightweight high-alumina bricks have low use temperature and high porosity, and cannot be contacted with flame or slag. Slag is easy to cause damage to the brick body by penetrating the inside of the brick body, and is mostly used for thermal insulation layer materials.
